Promising Apple Selections Bred at Fruit Research Institute - Cacak
Abstract
The paper presents the results of studying biological and pomological properties of the following promising apple selections: J/9/22 ('Prima' x 'Melrose'), J/15/96 ('Prima' x TNR10T23), J/1/49 ('Melrose' x 'Prima') as well as J/6/7, J/1/35 and J/2/11 singled out from the population of planned hybrids originating from the cross of 'Idared' x 'Cadel'. The selections J/9/22, J/15/96 and J/1/49 have been bred within the programme of developing new apple cultivars resistant to Venturia inaequalis. These selections belong to the group of late autumn to winter apples, of attractive red skin colour, good shelf life through to April when kept in standard cold storages. The fruits of the selections J/6/7, J/1/35 and J/2/11 are firm, crispy and of high quality.
