AB - Do danas je u svetskoj literaturi opisano preko 30 virusnih bolesti maline. Na listovima se javlјa mozaik, crtičavost, šarenilo, hloroza i žutilo liske, nekroza lisnih nerava, uvijanje liske, skraćenje lisnih nerava i druge deformacije.
Ekonomski najznačajnije virusi maline su: virus nekroze crne maline (black raspberry necrosis virus, BRNV), virus žute mrežavosti rubusa (Rubus yellow net virus, RYNV), virus šarenila lista maline (raspberry leaf mottle virus, RLMV), virus žbunaste kržlјavosti maline (raspberry bushy dwarf virus, RBDV) i virus mrlјavosti lista maline (raspberry leaf blotch virus, RLBV).

AB - ‘Čačanska Rodna’ is very fruitful and has a tendency to overcrop. Therefore, for its successful growing, pruning is recommended as a mandatory measure. Regardless of the pruning intensity, a larger or smaller proportion of small fruits (<25 g) are always present on the tree. Due to their small size and inappropriate color, such fruits are not suitable for drying, fresh consumption and freezing. In Serbia, such small fruits are used for the production of plum spirit. The traditional method of plum spirit production includes crushing the fruits and spontaneous fermentation of the mash with stones, followed by double distillation, which results in overexpressed and often unpleasant stone-like aroma and, in the case of long and inadequate storage of the fermented mash, an acidic taste of plum spirit too. The aim of the study was to examine whether modifications of traditional plum spirit production method, which include a shorter storage time of the fermented mash, removal the stones before alcoholic fermentation, pulping of fruits and use of selected yeasts, can improve the smell and taste of plum spirit obtained from small fruits of cv ‘Čačanska Rodna’. The plum spirits obtained by six different processing methods, including the traditional one, differed significantly in terms of the contents of 21 out of 24 analyzed volatile compounds, as well as of sensory ratings. The plum spirit produced from the mash of crushed stoneless plums, spontaneously fermented and distilled immediately after finished alcoholic fermentation was evaluated with the highest sensory score, even higher than the plum spirits obtained by the most commonly used method in modern distilleries today (spirits from the pulped stoneless plums, fermented with selected yeasts and distilled immediately after finished fermentation). By choosing adequate processing method, excellent quality plum spirit can be obtained even from the small fruits of cv ‘Čačanska Rodna’.

Obrađene su i one bolesti i štetočine koјe nisu prisutne u Srbiјi. U ovom delu јe izložen koncept integralne zaštite maline koјi, pravilno primenjen, obezbeđuјe visoke prinose i plodove bez ostataka pesticida i drugih štetnih materiјa po zdravlje čoveka.

AB - Highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) are a recent addition to Montenegro’s fruit producing repertoire. The northern region of the country is home to new, dense plantations. To investigate the presence of viruses in blueberry plantations in Montenegro
during 2022, visual inspections of plantations were carried out. Seventeen leaf samples of five cultivars were collected and analyzed. The samples were tested by ELISA for the presence of: blueberry shock virus (BlShV), blueberry scorch virus (BlScV), blueberry shoestring virus (BSSV), blueberry leaf mottle virus (BLMoV), tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV), and tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV). Assays were conducted according to the recommended protocols. The samples were further tested for the presence of blueberry mosaic-associated virus and blueberry latent virus using RT-PCR and for the presence of the blueberry red ringspot virus using PCR. Extraction of total nucleic acids was performed with 2% CTAB buffer. Reverse transcription was done with pd(N)6 random primers, and PCR was done with virus-specific primers. PCR products were analyzed by electrophoresis in a 1.5% agarose gel and stained with ethidium bromide. The presence of blueberry latent virus was confirmed in 10 blueberry samples
(59%) in cultivars ‘’Duke’, ‘Bluecrop’, and ‘Earlyblue’. Virus identification was confirmed by sequencing the amplified fusion protein gene fragments of all 10 isolates. No other viruses were confirmed in the tested samples. This is the first survey for virus presence in blueberries in Montenegro and the first finding of blueberry latent virus in the country.

AB - In Serbia, the dominant methods of vegetative propagation of raspberries and blackberries are by root suckering (raspberry) and tip layering (blackberry), and they represent standard propagation techniques. However, due to the possible contamination of such planting material with viruses and phytopathogenic fungi, obtaining plants from tissue culture in vitro is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the fruit quality according to their chemical composition, emphasising the content of bioactive compounds in fruits of raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) ‘Meeker’ and blackberry (Rubus fruticosus L.) ‘Čačanska Bestrna’ from plants
propagated in the field by standard technique (ST) and grown in vitro micropropagation tissue culture (TC). A three-year experiment included the determination of the main fruit quality parameters (soluble solids, sugars, and total acids) by standard methods. The identification and quantification of phenolic compounds (protocatechuic, 4-hydroxybenzoic, ellagic, gallic, p-coumaric, caffeic and ferulic acids, quercetin, cyanidin, and pelargonidin) were performed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The obtained results showed that the origin of the planting material did not significantly affect the quality of the fruits in terms of primary and secondary metabolites, except for 4-hydroxybenzoic acid in blackberries. This means that both (ST and TC) propagation methods allow obtaining fruits of equally good quality. Therefore, when choosing the type of planting material, other factors such as health, yield, and cost of planting material should be taken into account.

AB - Raspberries are highly valued by consumers due to their nutraceutical properties, which have been associated with various health benefits. The aim of this study was to evaluate the differences in quality characteristics of fresh raspberry fruits and final products (jam and juice) collected from plantations under different agroecological conditions (three localities). The total phenolic content in raspberry fruits and products was quantified by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the total anthocyanin content by the pH-differential method. In the same samples, eight elements (phosphate, iron, manganese, zinc, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium) were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The productivity of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) cultivar ‘Willamette’ was studied by examining the variation in the number of floricanes per espalier meter and per unit area as well as the variation in yield per cane and per unit area. The results showed that the highest yield was observed in the L2 locality (660.00 g per cane and 14,840 kg ha−1 of total area), while the lowest yield was recorded in the L3 one (519.67 g per cane and 11,779 kg ha−1 of total area). The amount of macro- and microelements in the soil and raspberry fruits varied between the localities with a higher nutrient content obtained in the L2 locality. The antioxidant capacity and total anthocyanin and phenolic content of the raspberry fruits were influenced by the cultivation area with the highest values of anthocyanins (63.45 mg cyn-3-glu 100 g−1 FW) and phenols (630.00 mg GAE 100 g−1 FW) observed in the L2 locality. The study also revealed that the processing of raspberry fruits into juice and jam had minimal effects on the antioxidant capacity and phenolic content. The findings highlight that ‘Willamette’ raspberries are a valuable source of bioactive compounds and minerals that contribute to their nutritional value and potential health benefits. Further research and optimisation of processing techniques are necessary to effectively preserve and enhance the bioactive compounds in processed raspberry products.

AB - Dried fruit is classified as a nutritionally highly valued food due to its high content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity. Furthermore, due to a high content of natural sugars giving the body the necessary energy, dried fruit is an essential part of a balanced meal. Therefore, the aim of our paper is to examine the quality of dried sour cherry from newly developed and indigenous cultivars originating from Serbia. Sour cherry cultivars and promising genotypes developed at Fruit Research Institute, Čačak ('Šumadinka', 'Sofija', 'Nevena' and 'GV-10') and autochthonous cultivars 'Oblačinska' and 'Feketićka' were used for testing. Drying of pitted fruit was performed in an experimental drier at an air temperature of 70 °C until reaching 75% of the total dry matter. Contents of total dry matter, sugars, total acids, as well as sugar/acid ratio and pH value were determined in fresh fruit. Large discrepancies manifested in the values of evaluated parameters point to distinct varietal specificities. Besides the aforementioned parameters, total phenols and antioxidant capacity, as well as sensory characteristics (appearance, flavour, aroma, and consistency) were analyzed in dried sour cherry fruits. Based on the results of sensory analyses of dried sour cherry fruits, the cultivar 'Feketićka' had the best, whereas cultivar 'Šumadinka' received the lowest grades, which is consistent with the sugar/acid ratio. On the other side, dried fruits of cultivar 'Feketićka' had the lowest values of contents of total phenolics and antioxidant capacity, whereas the highest values were found in cultivar 'Sofija'. Based on evaluated quality parameters, all tested cultivars have been found suitable for processing by drying. Sensory analysis revealed that the dried fruits of all tested sour cherries had supreme sensory quality.

AB - Mulching is an important agricultural technique that is not widely used in perennial fruit orchards, especially not in black currant plantings. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare two mulched (sawdust and black foil) and un-mulched soils (bare fallow) in black currant orchard. The research determined soil physical and chemical characteristics and some properties of black currant (bush volume, yield per unit area, berry weight, soluble solids content). During five-year research, it was found that in all cultivation systems, there were changes in soil characteristics, as well as in the tested properties of black currant. Mulching with sawdust had a stimulating effect on nutrient content (humus, N, P2O5 and K2O) in soil and resulted in a stable soil water regime and steadily low soil temperatures throughout the growing season compared to the other two cultivation systems, which directly led to an increase in the bush volume and yield per unit area. On the other hand, moderate soil temperature and low soil moisture during the growing season, as recorded on bare fallow, promoted the increase in berry weight. In contrast, the soil covered with foil had a positive effect on improved soil mechanical properties, especially an increase in silt fractions and contributed to higher soil temperature and moisture, which caused higher accumulation and synthesis of soluble solids in berries. Generally, the present results suggested that cultivation systems significantly influenced soil characteristics and certain properties of black currant, which should be considered when choosing an appropriate location for establishing black currant orchards.

abstract = "Mulching is an important agricultural technique that is not widely used in perennial fruit orchards, especially not in black currant plantings. Generally, the present results suggested that cultivation systems significantly influenced soil characteristics and certain properties of black currant, which should be considered when choosing an appropriate location for establishing black currant orchards.",

AB - The highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) is a relatively new fruit species for fruit growing in Montenegro. Established plantations are located in the northern part of the country.
To investigate the presence of viruses in blueberry plantations in Montenegro during 2022, visual inspections of plantations were carried out. Seventeen leaf samples of five cultivars (‘Aurora’, ‘Bluecrop’, ‘Brigita Blue’, ‘Duke’, and ‘Earlyblue’) were collected and analyzed.
The samples were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the presence of: blueberry shock virus (BlShV), blueberry scorch virus (BlScV), blueberry shoestring virus (BSSV), blueberry leaf mottle virus (BLMoV), tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV), and tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV). The samples were further tested for the presence of blueberry mosaic-associated virus (BlMaV) and blueberry latent virus (BlLV) using RT-PCR and for the presence of the blueberry red ringspot virus (BRRV) using PCR. Extraction of total nucleic acids was performed with 2% CTAB buffer. Reverse transcription was performed using pd(N)6 random primers, and PCR reactions were performed using virus-specific primers. PCR products were analyzed by electrophoresis in a 1.5% agarose gel and stained with ethidium bromide.
The presence of blueberry latent virus was confirmed in 10 blueberry samples (59%) in cultivars 'Duke', 'Bluecrop', and 'Earlyblue'. Virus identification was confirmed by sequencing the amplified fusion protein gene fragments of all 10 isolates. No other viruses were confirmed in the tested samples.
This is the first survey for virus presence in blueberries in Montenegro and the first finding of blueberry latent virus in the country.

AB - The most important berry fruits produced in Serbia are raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries, while currants and others are of less importance. Berry fruits are propagated in a vegetative manner and are prone to attack by numerous fungi, bacteria and viruses. Diseases caused by viruses are the most difficult to control. Viruses may cause great crop losses in sensitive cultivars, resulting in low yields and poor fruit quality. In single infections, numerous viruses cause latent infections and no damages, but in mixed infections can lead to significant disease severity. Extensive research of viruses infecting berry fruits in Serbia has started during 2000s in the Fruit Research Institute in Čačak. The development of molecular techniques and their application for detection and characterization of pathogens have led to the identifications of many new viruses in the country. Raspberry leaf blotch virus, black raspberry necrosis virus, Rubus yellow net virus, raspberry vein chlorosis virus, raspberry mottle virus and raspberry latent virus were identified in raspberry orchards. In blueberries, blueberry red ringspot virus, blueberry mosaicassociated virus and blueberry latent virus were reported in the last decade. No new viruses in blackberries have been found, and the research of the strawberry viruses is still negligible. In this paper, the detailed synthesis of the results obtained on berry fruit viral diseases in Serbia achieved over the past two decades is presented.

AB - Raspberry leaf blotch emaravirus (RLBV) has become established in many Serbian raspberry orchards as the most prevalent virus of raspberries in the country. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of RLBV on the red raspberry 'Willamette' variety. A trial was conducted in four raspberry orchards located in Western Serbia. Fruits from RLBV-infected and uninfected canes were analyzed for fruit size (fruit length, width, height, shape, and weight), soluble solids content, pH, titratable acidity, total sugars, and total phenolic and anthocyanin contents. The results of the study confirmed that RLBV significantly decreases fruit size and weight (9.15-27.49%) of 'Willamette' fruits. Soluble solids content was higher in infected fruits (1.55-7.39%), but the increase was not significant. RLBV did not cause significant changes in titratable acidity of raspberry juice, pH or total sugars content. Total phenolic and anthocyanin contents were higher in fruits of RLBV-infected plants in two out of four locations.

Savremeni koncept gajenja voćaka podrazumeva, kvalitetan sadni materijal, veliku gustinu sadnje, ostvarivanje redovnih i visokih prinosa plodova vrhunskog kvaliteta, odnosno primenu tehnologija prilagođenih klimatskim promenama.
(95.584 t), a najveća 2013. godine (516.411 t). Prosečna proizvodnja jabuke u periodu 2016-2020. iznosila je 445.705 t. Kod kruške je najmanji obim proizvodnje ostvaren 2002. (33.645 t), a najveći 2013. godine (88.224 t).
(14.961 t, a najveći 2004. godine (30.823 t). (12.747 t), a najveći 2011. godine (44.077 t).
Za dalje unapređenje voćarstva u Republici Srbiji potrebno je: podizanje zasada vrsta i sorti u odgovarajućim agroekološkim uslovima, investiranje u tehnologije prilagođene klimatskim promenama (protivgradne mreže, fertigacija, anti–frost i sistemi za orošavanje), primenjivati biostimulatore i biljne regulatore rasta, proizvodnju u zaštićenom prostoru, proizvodnju kvalitetnog zdravstveno i sortno ispravnog sadnog materijala, testiranje i uvođenje u proizvodnju novih sorti i podloga, vršiti nabavku savremene mehanizacije, posebno one namenjene berbi (platforme, tresači, kombajni), udruživanje i uvođenje integralnog i organskog koncepta proizvodnje voća. Merama ekonomske i agrarne politike treba još više stimulisati voćarsku proizvodnju, jer se pokazala kao dobar model rešavanja ekonomskih, socijalnih i demografskih problema.
AB - Fruit production accounts for about 11% of the value of agricultural production in the Republic of Serbia. Based on the data of the Statistical Office from 2017, the total area under orchards on the territory of the Republic of Serbia amounted to 183,602 ha. In the total used agricultural area in 2018, orchards participated with 5.3%. Fruit growing is making progress in the implementation of modern technologies and the association of producers, as a result of which it has recorded an increase in production, greater regional development and keeping young people in the villages. In the last few years, fruits and fruit products have been in the first place in Serbia in the structure of foreign trade of agricultural and food products. Among the top 10 exports agricultural and food products are frozen raspberries, fresh apples and frozen cherries. In the last five years, the largest increase was recorded in the export of apples and blueberries. The potential for the development of fruit growing is still not sufficiently used in Serbia, and in the following period, in the agricultural policy measures, fruit production and processing should take an even more important place.
The development of fruit growing is reflected not only in the increase of areas under orchards, but primarily in the introduction of modern cultivation technologies modeled on developed regions in Europe and the world. The modern concept of fruit growing includes quality planting material, high planting density, achieving regular and high yields of top quality fruits, and the use of technologies adapted to climate change. Investments in the establishment of fruit orchards are high, so that early fruiting and a quick return on investment are expected. Given the high costs of establishing orchards, not even the smallest segment of production is left to chance. Nevertheless, modern fruit production largely depends on environmental conditions. Limiting factors for achieving high yields and fruit quality in agroecological conditions of Serbia are as follows: winter and spring frosts, hail, sudden changes in winter temperatures, high summer temperatures, drought, diseases and pests, occurrence of sunburns on leaves, shoots and fruits, alternative bearing and in recent times the stormy winds. Low temperatures during and after the period of winter dormancy are a key factor in reducing of fruit production from year to year. The most reliable measure to prevent frost damage is preventive – the choice of species and cultivars depending on given agro-ecological conditions as well as the choice of growing location which implies that sensitive fruit species should not be grown in regions with frequent occurrence of low winter temperatures and spring frosts. Intensification of production by establishing irrigation systems, anti-hail nets, anti-frost systems, etc. significantly reduces risks. However, these are high investments that are profitable only in agro-ecological conditions suitable for the selected species, especially highly profitable ones (apple, raspberry, blueberry, cherry). In Serbia, there are numerous orchards that have been raised under unsuitable climatic conditions, thus fruiting irregularly with low yields or poor fruit quality. Such are, for example, apricot, peach or cherry plantations grown in the plain or orchards planted on soils with high level of groundwater which leads to root asphyxia and decay of parts or whole plantations.
In the period from 2000 to 2020, the fruit production quantity recorded changes, mostly due to the unfavorable agro-climatic factors. The lowest production was recorded in 2002 (592,966 t) and 2005 (874,954 t), and the highest in 2013, when the record production quantity of 1,639,236 t was achieved. The increase tendency in the fruit production is confirmed by the average production quantity in the last five years of 1,401,713 t. In 2020, the production quantity amounted to 1,589,753 t, which is 45% more than in 2005 or 63% more than in 2002.
The largest increase in the production quantity was recorded in apples. In the last 20 years, the lowest apple production was in 2002 (95,584 t), and the highest in 2013 (516,411 t). The average apple production in the period 2016-2020 amounted to 445,705 t. The lowest production quantity of pears was in 2002 (33,645 t), and the highest in 2013 (88,224 t). Since 2013, production has been declining, so that the average for the last five years was 57,792 t. When it comes to quince, the lowest production was recorded in 2002 (7,100 t), and the highest in 2013 (15,754 t), while the average for the last five years was 11,412 t.
The dominant fruit species in Serbia is the plum, with the lowest production recorded in 2002 (197,486 t), and the highest in 2013 (606,594 t), which is an average of 474,740 t for the last five years. In 2002, cherry recorded the lowest production of 48,919 t, and the highest in 2020 of 165,738 t. In the last five years, an average of 115,830 tons was produced in cherry. Following apples and blueberries, the reatest intensification of technology occurred in the production of sweet cherries, but mistakes were often ade in the selection of cultivars. The lowest sweet cherry production quantity was achieved in 2020 (14,961 t), and the highest in 2004 (30,823 t). In the last five years, an average of 19,854 t of sweet cherries was produced. Apricot production is characterized by variable production quantities due to damages from winter and spring frosts. The lowest production quantity in apricot was recorded in 2020 (12,747 t), and the highest in 2011 (44,077 t). In the past five years, on average 32,755 t of apricots have been produced annually. The lowest production of peaches and nectarines was recorded in 2000 (38,700 t), while the highest in 2011 (91,366 t). The average production of this fruit in the last five years was 73,180 t, of which about one third are nectarines. When it comes to nuts, the increase in growing area and production quantity, as well as progress in the introduction of modern technologies came in hazelnut after the investments of the company "Ferrero" and the foundation of the company "Agriser" in Serbia. Since 2013, since the production of hazelnut has been recorded, the areas under this species have increased from 2,369 to 4,922 ha, and the production quantity from 3,366 t to 6,689 t in 2020. In contrast, walnut production declined, from the highest quantity in 2009 (27,554 t) to the lowest in 2020 (8,455 t). Among berry species, raspberry is on the first place with the average production in the last five years of 117,731 t according to official data, the lowest in 2000 (55,999 t) and the highest in 2018 (127,010 t). Blackberry makes a significant export product; with its average production in the last five years being 30,266 t. Strawberry production was variable in the last five years, with the lowest production quantity recorded in 2019 of 19,608 t, and the highest of 30,483 t in 2020. However, blueberries have the most intensive growth trend in the last five years due to the high profitability of cultivation with the prospects of applying modern cultivation technologies in the soil and in containers, under hail systems and other forms of protected cultivation.
For further improvement of fruit growing in the Republic of Serbia the following is necessary: raising plantations of species and cultivars in suitable agro-ecological conditions, investing in technologies adapted to climate change (hail nets, fertigation, anti-frost and sprinkler irrigation systems), apply biostimulants and plant growth regulators, production in protected area, production of high quality, virus-free clonal planting material, testing and introduction of new cultivars and rootstocks, the use of modern mechanization, especially those intended for harvesting (platforms, shakers, combines), association of producers and implementation of integrated and organic methods of fruit production. Agricultural policy measures should further stimulate fruit production, as it has proven to be a good model for solving economic, social and demographic problems.

abstract = "Proizvodnja voća čini oko 11% vrednosti poljoprivredne proizvodnje u Republici Srbiji. Savremeni koncept gajenja voćaka podrazumeva, kvalitetan sadni materijal, veliku gustinu sadnje, ostvarivanje redovnih i visokih prinosa plodova vrhunskog kvaliteta, odnosno primenu tehnologija prilagođenih klimatskim promenama. In 2020, the production quantity amounted to 1,589,753 t, which is 45% more than in 2005 or 63% more than in 2002.The largest increase in the production quantity was recorded in apples. When it comes to quince, the lowest production was recorded in 2002 (7,100 t), and the highest in 2013 (15,754 t), while the average for the last five years was 11,412 t.The dominant fruit species in Serbia is the plum, with the lowest production recorded in 2002 (197,486 t), and the highest in 2013 (606,594 t), which is an average of 474,740 t for the last five years. When it comes to nuts, the increase in growing area and production quantity, as well as progress in the introduction of modern technologies came in hazelnut after the investments of the company 'Ferrero' and the foundation of the company 'Agriser' in Serbia. Agricultural policy measures should further stimulate fruit production, as it has proven to be a good model for solving economic, social and demographic problems.",

AB - Čačanska Rodna is a plum cultivar of combined characteristics. The fruits are used for fresh consumption, drying, plum brandy and other forms of processing. This paper presents the ten-year examinations of prune quality depending on characteristics of the fresh fruits.
Fruits from the plantation of Fruit Research Institute, at Preljinsko brdo locality, where standard agro- and pomotechnical measures have been regularly applied were used for examinations. Fruits intended for drying of approximately same mass and ripeness degree that are suitable for processing were picked.
Drying of plum fruits was performed at an experimental drier at an air temperature of 90°C until 75% of the total dry matter was reached in prunes. Based on the results of examining
chemical composition of fresh and dried plum, it can be concluded that fruits of Čačanska Rodna are suitable for drying regardless of climatic conditions during summer period.
During plum drying, a hydrolysis of sucrose occurred, which had been manifested in a dramatic decrease of its content in dried fruits compared to fresh ones and at the same time, an increase of invert sugars.
Even though drying resulted in a slight loss of the content of total sugars and total acids, the sugar/acid ratio of dried fruit did not decrease in relation to the fresh fruit, i.e. quality of dried fruits did not diminish.

Buds 1.5.mm-size of infected genotypes were inoculated on different MS (Murashige i Skoog) media with addition of 0.5 mg/L 6-benzilaminopurina (BAP) and 0.05 mg/L indol-3-acetic acid (IAA) with antioxidants (M1: 0.1 mM salycilic acid, M2: 1 mM ascorbic acid, M3: 1 mM glutathione and M4: combination of three antioxidants with mentioned concentrations) and in vitro growth was observed. From shooted plants apical meristems were excised and cryopreservation protocol was performed (LS-20´, ½ PVS2-30´and PVS2-50´ control and freezing). The highest in vitro growth was achieved on medium with addition of glutathione (M3). Infection has an effect on regeneration of plants, but has not effect on regeneration after cryopreservation.

AB - In recent years, there has been an increasing interest of Serbian berry fruit growers in establishing high-bush blueberry plantation. The first successful steps to that aim have been made in the Municipality Arilje when 10 hectares of this fruit species were planted. The most common production method of blueberry production in previous years in Serbia was growing blueberry in soils or formerly prepared substrate, in raised beds with or without foil or agrotextile covering. In past years, growing of this fruit species in containers has ever been present. Container growing method is most common in cases where owner or investor owns insufficient land or it is of too unfavourable mechanical composition.
The paper present the two-year results (2020-2021) of examining yields and more significant quality indicators of the fruit of cv Duke of the same age, grown in raised beds or containers in the villages of Ljutovnica near Gornji Milanovac, Nikšić near Kragujevac and Slatina in the vicinity of Belanovica.
The research results show that blueberry grown in containers had higher initial yield compared to those grown in raised beds. From the third year, in blueberries grown in raised beds, a higher yield per bush (2626,53 g compared to 2029,62 g) and larger fruits (1,81 g compared to 1,69 g) were noted as well as higher content of the basic indicators of chemical composition and better organoleptic fruit characteristics. Differences in yield and quality of fruits in favour of the blueberry grown in raised beds were especially pronounced in the year of high temperatures during the harvest period.

Razlike u prinosu i kvalitetu plodova u korist borovnice gajene na bankovima bile su posebno izražene u godini sa visokim temperaturama tokom perioda berbe., In recent years, there has been an increasing interest of Serbian berry fruit growers in establishing high-bush blueberry plantation. AB - This study presents the results of a research into volatile compounds in raspberry fruits of four commercial cultivars (‛Willamette’, ‛Meeker’, ‛Tulameen’, ‛Latham’) and one a selection (‛K 81/6’) grown in Western Serbia. By using the method of simultaneous distillation and extraction (Likens-Nickerson method), 37 volatile compounds were isolated and identified (using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry – GC/MS), and then classified into corresponding classes of aldehydes, ketones, acids, esters, terpenes, C13-norisoprenoids, sesquiterpenes and hydrocarbons. A quantitative analysis (using gas chromatography-flаmе iоnisаtiоn dеtеctоr – GC/FID) revealed that tested raspberry cultivars and selection differ in the content of individual volatile components (expressed in %). The highest share in volatile components belonged to the class of C13-norisoprenoids, among which the most abundant were β-ionone (ranging from 4.50% in ‛Latham’ to 26.79% in ‛K 81/6’ selection) and α-ionone (ranging from 5.04% in ‛Latham’ cv., to 11.43% in ‛Meeker’).

AB - Plum cultivars of combined characteristics, classified into the group of medium late and late cultivars, which ripen from mid-August until mid-September, are used for drying. As drying period lasts about a month, in order to increase production, drying time should be decreased, which is achieved by different pre-treatments, like dipping. Another possibility to increase production is to extend drying season by using frozen fruits, since frozen fruit is available throughout the whole year and its nutritional composition does not differ from fresh fruit. In this regard, freezing can be considered as a pre-treatment in the production of prunes. Plum cultivars of the Fruit Research Institute Čačak intended for drying (ˊMildoraˊ, ˊNadaˊ, ˊČačanska Rodnaˊ and ˊValjevkaˊ) and cv ˊStanleyˊ, commonly used for drying in Serbia, are used for examination. For the purpose of the experiment, fruits were picked selectively at the stage of technological maturity for drying. Drying was performed in an experimental convective drier at air temperature of 90 °C until 75% of total dry matter was reached. The aim of the paper is examination of drying kinetics of the frozen fruits compared to dipped ones (common pre-treatment) and non-treated fruits (control). In all examined cultivars, non-treated fruits were dried the longest, except cv ˊMildoraˊ, which fruits were dried the same time regardless the applied pre-treatment. Freezing can be recommended as a pre-treatment because, on the one side, it extends the drying season, and on the other, decreases drying time compared to non-treated fruits; furthermore the quality of prunes obtained in this way does not lag behined the quality of prunes obtained from fresh plums. In our examinations, frozen fruits of cv ˊČačanska rodnaˊ, ˊValjevkaˊ and ˊStanleyˊ were dried the shortest, while in cv ˊNadaˊ, drying time was the same regardless of whether the fruits were dipped or frozen before drying.

AB - Plum drying is a slow and time-consuming process because whole fruits are being dried. As drying period is limited, since conditioned by technological properties of plum suitable for this type of processing, in order to increase production, drying period should be reduced which is achieved by different pretreatments such as dipping. Another possibility of production increase is to extend drying season using frozen fruit, considering its availability throughout the whole year. Consequently, freezing can be considered as a pretreatment in prune production. In this study, plum cultivars of the Fruit Research Institute recommended for drying (‘Čačanska Rodna’ and ‘Nada’) and cultivar ‘Stanley’, most commonly used for drying, have been tested. Drying was done at an experimental convective drier at the air temperature of 90 °C and the air streaming rate of 4 m/s until 75% of total dry matter was reached. The aim of the work was to examine the drying rate of frozen plum fruits compared to dipped ones (conventional pretreatment) and non-treated fruits (control). Drying rate differed depending on varietal characteristics and pretreatments applied. The highest drying rate was in frozen fruits of cultivars ‘Čačanska Rodna’. In cultivars ‘Nada’ and ‘Stanley’, pretreatments had insignificant effect on drying rate.

AB - During June and July 2020, numerous ‘Stanley’ plants were observed with small, brown spots on leaves in the plum orchard in locality Bačka Topola. Later on, leaf lesions became dark brown and irregular, resulting in necrosis that was followed by defoliation. Collected samples were analyzed using standard mycological procedures. Ten fungal isolates from leaves and branches were obtained from infected plums. Two isolates originating from branches (ŠG) and leaves (ŠL), were selected for further studies. The pathogenicity test was performed on five plum
cultivars: ‘Stenley’, ‘Čačanska Lepotica’, ‘Čačanska Rodna’, ‘Čačanska Najbolja’ and ‘Požegača’. Morphological characteristics of two selected isolates were studied on three nutrient media: cornmeal agar (CMA), carnation leaf agar (CLA) and potato dextrose agar (PDA). Both tested isolates formed airy, dark olive-green colonies on PDA medium. The colonies were light olive-green in all tested isolates on CMA. On CLA, all studied isolates formed olive-green substrate mycelium. Conidia size for tested isolate ŠG on PDA medium ranged from 19.20−46.24 × 7.95−12.88 μm (mean 25.85 × 10.42 μm), and for isolate ŠL from 18.17−36.16 × 8.09−12.59 μm, (mean 24.98 × 11.10 μm). Both studied isolates on all tested plant organs (leaf, branch and fruit) in all plum cultivars caused symptoms typical for fungi of the genus Alternaria, the appearance of dark brown necrotic lesions on leaves, branches and fruits. Based on preliminary research of morphological characteristics and pathogenic tests, analyzed isolates were identified as belonging to the species Alternaria alternata.

abstract = "During June and July 2020, numerous ‘Stanley’ plants were observed with small, brown spots on leaves in the plum orchard in locality Bačka Topola. The pathogenicity test was performed on five plumcultivars: ‘Stenley’, ‘Čačanska Lepotica’, ‘Čačanska Rodna’, ‘Čačanska Najbolja’ and ‘Požegača’. Morphological characteristics of two selected isolates were studied on three nutrient media: cornmeal agar (CMA), carnation leaf agar (CLA) and potato dextrose agar (PDA).
