AB - Effect of pre-harvest calcium chloride (CaCl2) treatment on fruit quality attributes of three apple cultivars (‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’, ‘Granny Smith’ and ‘Red Chief ’) at harvest and after two and four months of cold storage during two consecutive years was studied. Trees were sprayed four times starting from the beginning of June at 20-day intervals. After harvest, fruits were stored in a regular atmosphere (RA) for further analysis. Measurements included fruit weight, weight loss, firmness, total soluble solids (TSS), titrable acidity (TA), total sugars (TS), TS/TA, total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activity (AA). CaCl2 had a positive impact on fruit firmness of all cultivars in both years. Higher values of TSS and TS of ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’ were
determined in CaCl2 treatment in both years. TSS, TS and TS/TA were increased by prolonging storage in ‘Red Chief’ in CaCl2 treatment and control, in both years. TSS and TS proved similarly stable in ‘Granny Smith’ during storage in CaCl2 treatment and control in the second year of examination, but a decrease of TA and TS/TA has been detected in both years of storage. The AA of cultivars ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’ and ‘Red Chief’ was stronger affected by the storage compared to CaCl2 treatment. Through a comprehensive analysis of apple cultivars it can be concluded that pre-harvest application of CaCl2 in cultivars ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’ and ‘Red Chief’ can be used to improve fruit quality during storage.

AB - Apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.) is one of the most represented and economically most
important fruit species. There are a number of calcium-containing products on the market that
can be applied before or after harvest to delay fruit maturation with no negative effects on
consumers. The paper also presents the results of a study on the effects of a foliar application
of calcium chloride (ʻStopitʼ) on the physical and basic fruit quality properties of the apple
cultivar ʻGlosterʼ. The study was conducted for two consecutive years, and the changes in
fruit weight, firmness, dimensions, soluble solids, total sugars, and organic acids content were
studied during harvest and storage periods of 60 and 120 days in a regular cold chamber.
Fruits treated with calcium chloride had higher fruit weight, height, width, firmness, total
sugars, and ratio between total sugars and organic acids (206.0 g, 70.6 mm, 77.8 mm, 7.6 kg
cm-2, 10.4%, and 21.4, respectively). The storage period had a significant effect on all fruit
parameters studied, except for the content of total acids. The highest values of physical
properties were mesured at the moment of storage, soluble solids content after 60 days (13.2°
Brix), and total sugars (10.9%) and sugar/acid ratio (22.3) after 120 days of storage. Foliar
application of CaCl2 during vegetation can be an effective measure to avoid losses in apple
fruit quality during storage in the regular cold chamber.

AB - During two consecutive years (2014 and 2015) we investigated tree vigour, productivity, and the main physicochemical attributes of Carmen, Kieffer, Santa Maria, and Williams pears grafted on quince BA.29. Results showed that trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA), yield per tree (Y), yield efficiency (YE), and number of fruits per tree (NFT) were significantly affected by cultivar and years, whereas the interaction of cultivar x year influenced only Y and YE. Carmen and Kieffer had the largest trees and Williams the smallest. Santa Maria and Williams had the best productivity attributes (Y, YE, and NFT). In 2015, TCSA and Y were better, whereas YE was higher in 2014. Kieffer had superior fruit weight, fruit width, and surface area, whereas Carmen had the highest fruit length and flesh firmness. Year-by-year variations of physical properties were not significant, with the exception of length/diameter (L/D) ratio and flesh firmness, whereas the interaction of cultivar x year significantly influenced fruit physical properties, except for L/D ratio. Soluble solids content was not influenced by cultivar, year, or their interaction. Titratable acidity and maturity index were highest in fruits of Santa Maria and lowest in Carmen and Kieffer, respectively. Mean acidity content was higher in 2015, whereas maturity index was higher in 2014. The interaction of cultivar x year affected only acidity content. Significant correlations were found among some pear tree, yield, and fruit quality properties. Principal components analysis showed that there are large variations among varieties in terms of agronomic and fruit quality attributes. It can be said that in terms of positive traits of the tree, productivity, and fruit, Williams and Santa Maria can be singled out, while Carmen and, especially, Kieffer are recommended for growing on a small scale in similar conditions.

AB - So far, the concept of effective pollination period (EPP) for several cultivars of plum, apricot, apple, pear, almond and others has been proven as suitable parameter to set up a relationship between the variation in the reproductive process and cropping behaviour. Among a number of autochthonous plum cultivar present in plum orchards in Serbia, ‘Crvena Ranka’ is the most important. It’s a self-sterile cultivar (characterized by the appearance of cytoplasmic male sterility), so the presence of an adequate pollenizer is needed. Fruit set and EPP in this plum cultivar were evaluated under natural field conditions in western Serbia during 2021 and 2022. Pollination of flowers with mix of dry pollen was subsequenly done during the first 10 days after full bloom. Initial and final fruit set was recorded four weeks after pollination and at the period of physiological maturity of the fruit, respectively. Results show that in both years number of initial fruit set increased up to five days after anthesis. The same was archived with the final fruit set in the first year while in the second, the higest number of fruit set was observed on the fourth day after anthesis (40.67% and 54.48%, resp.). In the first year, five days after anthesis a slightly deacrease in final fruit set was observed with the lowest, but still satisfactory values, on the 10th day after anthesis (11%). In the second year, decreasing in fruit set was more evident and was below 4% on the seventh day after anthesis. The reason for such significant decrease in fruit set was the spring frost occurred during the five days in a row. Taking into account clearly effects of weather conditions on fruit set, based on obtained results, it can be estimated that the EPP for plum cultivar ‘Crvena Ranka’ is 10 days.

AB - Fertilisation strategy can have a big impact on apple (Malus domestica Borkh) yield, with considerable environmental and economic implications. This research paper presents the yield and leaf nutrients content of three apple cultivars fertilised with three treatment regimes (Jonagold Decosta, Red Idared and Gala Schnitzer®Schniga) each fertilised with three treatments: T1 (control‒without fertilization); T2 (300 kg ha-1 NPK (6:18:36) + 150 kg ha-1 N (calcium ammonium nitrate‒CAN)) and T3 (foliar nutrition‒mixture organic-mineral fertilizer commercially named “FitoFert Kristal” (0.6%) (10:40:10) + “FitoFert Kristal” (0.6%) (20:20:20) + “FoliFetril Ca” (0.5%) (N:Ca)) in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period of two years (2020–2021). Significant differences of different yield categories (yield per tree, yield per hectare and yield efficiency) were found among cultivar/treatment combinations, cultivars, treatments and years. Yield per tree, yield per hectare and yield efficiency were lowest in cultivar Jonagold DeCosta. Fertilization treatment T1 significantly influenced the lowest yield per tree and yield per hectare with the magnitudes 7.55 kg tree-1 and 27.96 t ha-1, respectively. The highest yield efficiency was found in trees fertilised with treatment T3 with 9.21 55 kg tree-1, 34.11 96 t ha-1 and yield efficiency of 0.25 kg cm-2. Six mineral elements in the apple leaf, such as boron (B), calcium (Ca), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), potassium (K), and zinc (Zn), were presented in known magnitudes. The cultivar Jonagold DeCosta’s leaves had the highest K, B, and Zn contents with 8500.8 mg kg-1 FW (i.e. fresh weight of leaves), 33.8 mg kg-1 FW, and 12.2 mg kg-1 FW, respectively, while cultivar Red Idared’s leaves had the highest Ca, Fe, and Mg contents. The fertilisation treatment T3 influenced significantly the highest content of Ca (301.37 mg kg-1 FW), Fe (116.5 mg kg-1 FW), B (41.6 mg kg-1 FW), Mn (22.4 mg kg-1 FW), and Zn (14.9 mg kg-1 FW) in leaves, while the highest content of K was found in leaves from trees fertilised with treatment T2 (8130.5 mg kg-1 FW). The experimental outcomes have proven that the cultivar/treatment combinations, cultivars, treatments, and time duration (in years) are the key factors affecting the potassium, calcium, iron, boron, and manganese contents. It was concluded that the foliar application enables easier mobility of elements, which results in a greater number of fruits and larger fruits, which leads to a higher yield. This study is the first of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the findings of this research will pave the way for future research activities involving increasing the number of cultivars and different fertilisation treatments on apple yield and leaf mineral composition.

This study is the first of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the findings of this research will pave the way for future research activities involving increasing the number of cultivars and different fertilisation treatments on apple yield and leaf mineral composition.",

AB - Apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.) is one of the most represented and economically most important fruit species. There are a number of calcium-containing products on the market that
can be applied before or after harvest to delay fruit maturation with no negative effects on consumers. The paper also presents the results of a study on the effects of a foliar application of calcium chloride (ʻStopitʼ) on the physical and basic fruit quality properties of the apple cultivar ʻGlosterʼ. The study was conducted for two consecutive years, and the changes in fruit weight, firmness, dimensions, soluble solids, total sugars, and organic acids content were studied during harvest and storage periods of 60 and 120 days in a regular cold chamber. Fruits treated with calcium chloride had higher fruit weight, height, width, firmness, total sugars, and ratio between total sugars and organic acids (206.0 g, 70.6 mm, 77.8 mm, 7.6 kg cm-2, 10.4%, and 21.4, respectively). The storage period had a significant effect on all fruit parameters studied, except for the content of total acids. The highest values of physical properties were mesured at the moment of storage, soluble solids content after 60 days (13.2° Brix), and total sugars (10.9%) and sugar/acid ratio (22.3) after 120 days of storage. Foliar application of CaCl2 during vegetation can be an effective measure to avoid losses in apple fruit quality during storage in the regular cold chamber.

AB - The research was conducted on plum trees of cultivar ‘Čačanska Rodna’ infected by Plum Pox Virus (PPV-Rec strain) as well as on healthy trees in which the presence of the virus was not confirmed. The experimental orchard is 14 years old. In infected trees, the dynamics of fruit dropwere studied in four terms (August 1st – 7th; August 8th –14th; August 15th – 21stand August 22nd – 28th). The average fruit sample from each of these terms was used to determine: fruit weight (g), the content of total soluble solids (TSS°Brix) total sugars (%) and total acids (%). The same parameters were determined on the average sample of fruits harvested in the phase of technological maturity from healthy trees. In both variants, the total yield per tree and unit area were studied. The total amount of prematurely fallen fruits from infected trees until August 7th was an average of 3.36 kg per tree (10.25% of the total yield). The average weight of these fruits was 19.48 g and they contained 15.17 °Brix of TSS, 6.54% of total sugars and 1.39% of total acids. In the period from August 8th –14thfrom infected trees fell 10.83 kg of fruit per tree (33.06% of total yield) with an average weight of 20.66 g, 16.77 °Brix of RSM, 7.21% of total sugars and 1.34% of total acids. In the third term, 8.27 kg of fruit per tree fell (25.24% of the total yield) from infected trees. Their average weight was 21.36 g and they contained 17.71 °Brix of RSM, 9.87% of total sugars and 0.76% of total acids. In the last term, the remaining 10.30 kg (31.45% of the total yield) fell from the infected trees. The average weight of these fruits was 20.95 g, the TSS content was 20.07 °Brix, the total sugar content was 10.20% and the total acid content was 0.64%. Fruits harvested from healthy trees reached technological maturity in the period August 25th–28th. The average weight of these fruits was 26.91 g and they contained 20.56 °Brix of TSS, 14.10% of total sugars and 0.75% of total acids. The total yield harvested from the trees infected with PPV was on average 32.76 kg per tree (40.95 t/ha), while the yield from healthy trees averaged 31.30 kg (39.12 t/ha).

AB - The area of the Balkan Peninsula is characterized by the presence of a large number of autochthonous plum cultivars with different local names and most often of unknown origin. A number of autochthonous plum cultivars whose fruits are primarily used for the brandy production are represented in plum orchards in Serbia. One of them is ‘Crvena Ranka’, which is the most important and most represented autochthonous plum variety. It’s a self-sterile cultivar (characterized by the appearance of cytoplasmic male sterility), so the presence of an adequate pollenizer is needed. This study aimed to examine the effective pollination period of this cultivar, based on the initial and final fruit set. During spring 2021, from the moment of full flowering until the tenth day after that, about 200 flowers (emasculated in the late "balloon" phase) were pollinated every day. A mixture of dried pollen from the plum cultivars ‘Čačanska Lepotica’, ‘Čačanska Rodna’ as well as the autochtonous cultivar ‘Dragačica’ was used for pollination. Three to four weeks after pollination, the initial fruit set was determined while the final fruit set was determined at the period of physiological maturity of the fruit. The highest percentage of fruit set was obtained by pollination of flowers during the first six days from the beginning of full flowering, ie from the third to the sixth day. In the flowers pollinated after the sixth day from the full flowering, a decrease in the fruit sets was observed, with the lowest value on the tenth day from the date of full flowering amounted of 17% for initial and 11% final fruit set. Based on the obtained results the EPP in this cultivar lasted seven days.

abstract = "Područje Balkanskog poluostrva se odlikuje prisustvom velikog broja autohtonih sorti šljive, različitih lokalnih naziva i najčešće nepoznatog porekla. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata EPP kod ove sorte je trajao sedam dana., The area of the Balkan Peninsula is characterized by the presence of a large number of autochthonous plum cultivars with different local names and most often of unknown origin. During spring 2021, from the moment of full flowering until the tenth day after that, about 200 flowers (emasculated in the late 'balloon' phase) were pollinated every day. Based on the obtained results the EPP in this cultivar lasted seven days.",

AB - During 2015 and 2016 we investigated the influence of different organic (cattle manure, Humus Vita Stallatico (HVS)), organo-mineral (Multi Comp Base (MCB)) and mineral fertilizers (calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), compound (NPK) and natural zeolite (Agrozel) as a soil conditioner on the yield and fruit physico-chemical properties of pear cv. 'Williams' grafted on quince BA.29 rootstock. Results showed that fertilizers, years and their interaction significantly changed the evaluated properties. Yield per tree and hectare was the highest with compound NPK application and the lowest in the control variant. Fruit weight (FW) was higher when NPK was used in comparison with the Agrozel application and the control variant. Manure, CAN, NPK and HVS induced similar and higher fruit length (L) than control, whereas NPK induced higher fruit diameter (D) than manure, Agrozel, CAN applications and control with no significant differences between them. Agrozel and NPK induced similar and higher fruit shape index (sphericity) values in comparison with manure and CAN application. Soil application of NPK induced higher surface area than Agrozel and control. Fertilizers did not affect flesh firmness (FF). Soil application of manure, MCB, NPK and HVS increased soluble solids content (SSC) in comparison with other treatments, whereas the highest acidity was observed in the control variant. Agrozel induced the highest pH juice, invert sugars (IS) and sweetness index (SI). The best ripening index (RI) was found with NPK fertilization. Total sugars (TS) and sucrose (SC) contents were the highest in the MCB variant. Generally, fruit physical and chemical properties were better in the first year of the investigations. However, the significant interaction fertilizer x year indicates that some fertilizers did not show a consistent effect in certain years.

Godini iznosilaje 15,3°C, odnosno 11,3°C u 2017. godini.
AB - The dessert plum cultivar ‘Timočanka’, in addition to positive characteristics such as large fruits of excellent taste and good quality, is also characterized by irregular bearing. In order to evaluate the reproductive process during two years (2016 and 2017), in vitro pollen germination, quantitative parameters of pollen tube growth in vivo, initial and final fruit set under open, self- and cross-pollination (with cultivars ʽČačanska Lepoticaʼ, ʽČačanska Rodnaʼ and ʽStanleyʼ) were evaluated. Also, the experiment included examination of the flowering phenophaseand daily air temperatures, embryo sac viability in unpollinated flowers and fertilization success in flowers from open pollination within the 21 days following the date of full flowering. The results indicated that pollenizers had good pollen germination in vitro and satisfactory flowering time overlap with the cultivar ʽTimočankaʼ. Mean daily temperatures for flowering and post-flowering period in 2016 and 2017 were 15.3°C and 11.3°C, respectively. The highest average values of quantitative parameters of pollen tube growth in vivo were obtained in crosspollination variant with ʽČačanska Lepoticaʼ, while the highest average values of initial (32.15%) and final (20.52%) fruit set were observed with ʽČačanska Rodnaʼ as pollenizer. The lowest values of examined parameters were recorded in the self-pollination variant and in the cross-pollination variant with cultivar ʽStanleyʼ as pollenizer. All investigated parameters of pollen tube growth, as well as initial and final fruit set had higher values in the first experimental year. In both years during the first ten days after full bloom, the viable embryo sacs were observed (16.7% in 2016 and 27.3% in 2017). However, fertilization success i.e., number of fertilized embryo sacs was higher in 2016. than in 2017. The study revealed existence of significant correlations between individual studied parameters of pollen viability, pollen tube growth in vivo and fruit set.

AB - The introduction of new varieties in fruit production should consider consumer attitudes regarding the appearance and taste of the fruits. In order to evaluate the consumer attitudes in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina (B& H), on the most important characteristics of cherry fruits, an online survey was conducted with 402 respondents. Participation in the survey was taken by 53.23% of respondents from Serbia and 46.77% from B&H, most of which were women (54.23%). Consumers expressed their views on the most important external (fruit colour, fruit shape, fruit size, presence of a stalk on the fruit, length of the stalk and the presence of damage to the fruit) and internal ( fruit taste, fruit firmness) characteristics of the fruit. According to the results, the attitude toward the fruit size, the presence of a stalk and the stalk length, as well as fruit firmness was dependent upon respondents' residence. Both male and female respondents had similar attitudes toward the cherry characteristics except for the fruit taste and the most important cherry characteristics. The age of a respondent influenced the attitude toward the fruit size and the presence of a stalk, as well as the fruit firmness.

AB - The aim of the present research was to evaluate the effects of foliar calcium chloride spraying on postharvest quality of fruits of five apple cultivars (‘Gloster’, ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’, ‘Granny Smith’, ‘Morren’sJonagored®’ and ‘Red Chief’) at harvest and during storage (2, 4, 6 and 8 months) in cold storage with normal atmosphere. Measurements of fruit weight, firmness, total soluble solids (TSS), titrable acidity (TA), total sugars (TS) and TS/TA ratio were performed. Significantly higher fruit weight was found in cultivar ‘Morren’sJonagored®’ (209.16 g) at harvest time, while this cultivar had low TSS (10.63%) and the lowest firmness (8.56 kg/cm2 ) compared to the other tested cultivars. Among tested cultivars TSS was the highest in ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’ (12.01%) and ‘Granny Smith’ (12.38%) which beside cultivar ‘Red Chief’ (11.53 kg/cm2 ), had the most firm fruit (10.94 kg/cm2 ). In addition to the high content of TSS, the cultivar ‘Golden Delicious Reinders®’ had a significantly higher content of TS and TS/TA ratio related to other examined cultivars. Results showed that fruit weight, firmness, and TSS content increased in fruit treated with calcium chloride as compared to control fruit. However, these parameters decreased by prolonging the storage time, except TSS content which was similar in all storage times. Moreover, during storage, the higher level of TA (0.34%) and TS (10.23%) was observed in fruit sprayed with calcium fertilizer. However, the content of TA and TS was decreasing during storage, and the highest TS/TA ratio was recorded in the last storage time (after 6 and 8 months of storage). Generally, the quality of apple fruit treated with calcium-chloride was better than those untreated in almost all parameters. In order to improve the quality of apple fruit during storage, the use of calcium chloride-based fertilizers may be recommended.

AB - Despite Serbia being among the world's largest producers of plums with about 5% of world production, seedlings of Myrobalan (Prunus cerasifera Ehrh.), characterized by a number of disadvantages, represent the most commonly used plum rootstock. Considering the intensification of plum production in the orchards of Serbia and other European countries, this study was aimed to assess the productivity and fruit quality of two plum cultivars ('Cacanska Lepotica' and 'Cacanska Najbolja') grafted on four different rootstocks (Myrobalan seedling, 'Fereley', 'St. Julien A' and 'Pixy') for two consecutive years (2017-2018). Cultivars 'Cacanska Lepotica' and 'Cacanska Najbolja' produced a similar average yield tree-1 (10.9 and 10.8 kg tree-1, respectively), while fruit weight, content of total phenols and antioxidant activity were significantly higher in 'Cacanska Najbolja' samples compared to 'Cacanska Lepotica', regardless rootstock. Yield tree-1 in plum grafted on Myrobalan seedling was higher compared to other rootstocks in both years, except in cultivar 'Cacanska Najbolja' in 2017, when the yield tree-1 was low in all studied rootstocks. Dwarf rootstock 'Pixy' showed the lowest yield tree-1 and induced high total phenols and antioxidant activity in fruit of cultivar 'Cacanska Lepotica' in both year of testing. However, in cultivar 'Cacanska Najbolja' there was no general trend in yield and fruit quality depending on rootstock. The medium vigor rootstocks 'Fereley' and 'St. Julien A' induced high values of yield tree-1 and content of total phenols in cultivar 'Cacanska Lepotica', although no significant differences were found with Myrobalan seedling as a rootstock. Owing to the high amounts of beneficial phytochemicals cultivar, 'Cacanska Najbolja' can be recommended for expansion in plum growing regions. Using semi-dwarf rootstocks 'Fereley' and 'St. Julien A', planting density can be increased, as well as yield and fruit quality, and facilitate application agricultural practices, such as pruning and harvesting.

AB - ‘Timočanka’ is a dessert plum cultivar created in Fruit Research Institute, Čačak. Although it has excellent fruit’s physical attributes, its storage potential has not been investigated so far. Commercial quality demands of plum cultivars aimed for fresh consumption mainly refer to physical properties, but nowadays an increased trend in society is healthy consumerism, particularly referring to bioactive compounds. For this reason, the presented study included evaluation of, not only physical properties of plum fruit, but also determination of total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity. No significant changes of fruit weight and soluble solids content after 21 days of cold storage were observed. Fruit firmness’ values were high on both analysis dates, notwithstanding fruit softening occurred during storage. Although ‘Timočanka’ is characterized by relatively low content of total phenols, the values of antioxidant capacity indicate that its consumption can increase the daily antioxidants intake.

AB - In this work, 19 newly introduced and some traditional apricot cultivars were evaluated by 20 phenological and agronomical traits and fruit quality attributes. 'the results showed a wide variation in phenological data, tree vigour (TCSA), productivity [yield per tree, cumulative yield (CY) and yield efficiency (YE)], and fruit quality attributes such as fruit and stone weight, flesh/stone ratio, fruit dimensions, size, shape index, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA) and ripening index (RI). The average onset of blossoming varied from 16 March to 20 March, whereas harvest was between 1 June and 12 September. The most vigorous trees were 'Ketch Pshar'. The best productivity was observed in 'Fardao' and the poorest in 'Farbaly'. More apricots were relatively small to medium in fruit size, whereas 'Candela' had very large fruits. Most cultivars tended towards a round shape, whereas some had round/ flat and/or ovoid-shaped fruits. The highest values for SSC were observed in 'Ketch Pshar', 'Candela' and 'Fardao', TA in 'Candela' and RI in 'Hungarian Best' There was a medium to high correlation between yield properties, fruit and stone size and flesh/seed ratio, also between SSC versus acidity and RI. As observed by PCA, the first three components represented 74.3% of total variance (38.3%, 22.1% and 19.8% for PC1, PC2 and PC3, respectively).

AB - The paper presents the two-year results of research regarding the impact of calcium chloride (ʻStopitʼ) on changes in morphometric properties of the fruit, firmness and the soluble solids content (SSC) in apple cv ʻRed Chiefʼ, at harvest and during storage of fruits (60 and 120 days) in the regular cold chamber. Foliar treatments were performed in four replications during vegetation (on June 7th, July 2nd, July 20th, August 15th – in 2018; June 14th, July 5th, July 26th, August 16th – in 2019). The obtained results indicate that fruit weight was significantly influenced by the calcium treatment and storage duration, while fruit dimensions varied under influence of storage duration only. The firmness and content of soluble solids was changing under the influence by all tested parameters and interaction effect of the study year and calcium treatment as well as storage duration. In the first year, fruits had higher weight (190.4 g), dimensions and firmness (12.4 N), whereas the SSC content was significantly higher in the second year of the study (16.2 °Brix). The fruits treated with calcium chloride had higher firmness (10.3 N) and soluble solids content (14.2 °Brix), especially after storage of 60 and 120 days (14.9 and 15.1 °Brix) compared to the soluble solids content in fresh fruits (11.5 °Brix). The stated results were confirmed by the highest values of the SSC recorded in the second year of the study after 60 days of fruit storage (17.9 °Brix). Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that foliar application of calcium chloride during vegetation can be an effective measure with which losses in quality of apple fruit during storage in the regular cold chamber can be avoided with no negative effect on consumer acceptability.

AB - This paper presents the two-year results (2018-2019) of research into the foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ on productivity and pomological properties of five introduced apple cultivars (ʻGloster 69ʼ, ʻGolden Reindersʼ, ʻGranny Smithʼ, ʻMorrens Jonagoredʼ and ʻRed Chiefʼ). Treatments were performed four times during vegetation, from the beginning of June until the mid of August, each 21 day. In harvest period of the investigated cultivars, morphometric characteristics, firmness and RSM content of fruit, as well as yield per unit area were determined. During the experiment, significant discrepancies between the investigated cultivars were found. The highest average weight (231.00 g), fruit dimension (height  71.41 mm and width  84.57 mm) and the content of RSM (14.52 °Brix) were found in the cultivar Morrens Jonagored, whereas the highest yield per unit area was found in the cultivar ʻRed Chiefʼ (2018 – 73.5 t ha-1 ; 2019 – 31.062 t ha-1). Regarding the years of study, by analyzing the results obtained, significantly higher average values of fruit mass and yield per unit area were recorded in the first year of study compared to the second experimental year, and as for the content of RSM, the reverse values were recorded (11,58% - 2018 i 14,13% - 2019). Application of ʻStopitʼ, which contains calcium (Ca) in the form of calcium chloride (CaCl2) (in its chemical composition), has shown a significant impact on the firmness of fruit in all investigated cultivars. The highest values of the fruit firmness were recorded in the cultivar ʻGranny Smithʼ in both years of study. Foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ can be recommended in apple orchards due to its stimulative impact on productive and pomological apple properties.

AB - The paper presents the two-year results (2018–2019) of foliar product ʻStopitʼ application on pomological traits and storage of the apple cultivar ʻGranny Smithʼ. Foliar treatments in apple orchards were performed four times (on June 7th, July 2nd, July 20th, August 15th – in 2018; June 14th, July 5th, July 26th, August 16th – in 2019) during vegetation, that is, from the beginning of June until middle of August. At harvest as well as after storage of fruits (120 days) in a cooler at normal atmospheric pressure, fruit morphometric traits, firmness and soluble solids content of the cultivar ʻGranny Smithʼ and its control were studied comparatively. Analysis of the obtained results pointed to a statistically significant impact of storage period (except the soluble solids content), genotype (except fruit width) and agroecological conditions in the period of study as well as interaction effect of all variability factors on tested parameters. Values of the fruit mass ranged from 157.28 to 202.56 g, width from 60.11 to 71.72 mm, height from 71.30 to 80.03 mm and the content of soluble solids from 11.13 to 14.41 °Brix. Application of foliar product ʻStopitʼ containing calcium (Ca) in the form of calcium chloride (CaCl2) conditioned a more favorable effect on pomological traits of the control variant of cv ʻGranny Smithʼ, whereas during the study period, higher values were found in the first year. From the economic perspective of apple production, values of the fruit firmness as one of the most important parameters of fruit quality were lower after taking the fruits out of the cooler although the values in each variant were higher compared to control.

From the economic perspective of apple production, values of the fruit firmness as one of the most important parameters of fruit quality were lower after taking the fruits out of the cooler although the values in each variant were higher compared to control.",

AB - During two consecutive years we tested the impact of different fertilizers on the leaf nutritional status of 'Williams' pears at 60 days after full bloom. Fertilizers, years and their interaction significantly influenced leaf macro- and microelements level. Cattle manure (CM) increased leaf P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe and Mn, but decreased leaf N, Zn and B levels. A good capacity to improve leaf N, Mg, Mn, Cu, Zn and B was showed by Multi-Comp Base (MCB) fertilizer. Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) decreased leaf Mg and microelements. Deviation from optimum percentage (DOP) and Sigma DOP indexes indicate that CAN, MCB, Humus Vita Stallatico (HVS) induced a quite balance among macroelements, whereas HVS promoted the best balance among micro elements. Wider imbalances within macro- and microelements were caused by CM and compound NPK. The results of this study suggest the advantages of early foliar analysis of 'Williams' pears to eliminate disturbances concerning leaf element amounts.

AB - In order to respond to consumers’ requirements, it is necessary to supply the market with high quality plum fruit. As the quality of the fruit starts to change immediately after harvest, cold storage is applied in order to maintain fruit characteristics, determined mainly in orchards. Since fruit quality and storage potential depend on cultivar, the aim of this research was to analyze and compare quality-related properties of ‘Čačanska Lepotica’ and ‘Empress’ before and after cold storage. Although examined cultivars have different ripening time, they are primarily grown for fresh consumption. Thus, all analyses were performed at harvest and after 28 days of cold storage (0–2 °C, 90–95% relative humidity), followed by a shelf life of three days at 20 °C. Fruit firmness, weight loss, susceptibility to Monilinia spp., soluble solids content, titratable acidity, antioxidant capacity, the concentrations of total phenolics, flavonoids and anthocyanins were monitored. After cold storage and subsequent shelf life, an increase in soluble solids content, antioxidant capacity, total phenolics and flavonoids were observed in both cultivars. Significant differences between fresh and stored plums were found in terms of fruit firmness. Fruit of ‘Čačanska Lepotica’ had higher content of soluble solids and anthocyanins and it was firmer in both analyses’ dates compared to fruit of ‘Empress’. However, its fruit was more susceptible to Monilinia spp. and had significantly higher weight loss than ‘Empress’ fruit.

AB - The paper presents the two-year results (2018–2019) of foliar product ʻStopitʼ application on pomological traits and storage of the apple cultivar ʻGranny Smithʼ. Foliar treatments in apple orchards were performed four times (on June 7th, July 2nd, July 20th, August 15th– in 2018; June 14th, July 5th, July 26th, August 16th– in 2019) during vegetation, that is, from the beginning of June until middle of August. AB - This paper presents the two-year results of research into the foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ on productivity and pomological properties of five introduced apple cultivars (ʻGloster 69ʼ, ʻGolden Reindersʼ, ʻGranny Smithʼ, ʻMorrens Jonagoredʼ and ʻRed Chiefʼ). Treatments were performed four times during vegetation, from the beginning of June until the mid of August, each 21 day. In harvest period of the investigated cultivars, morphometric properties, firmness and RSM content of fruit, as well as yield per unit area were determined. During the experiment, significant discrepancies between the investigated cultivars were found. The highest average weight, fruit dimension and the SSC were found in the cultivar ʻMorrens Jonagoredʼ, whereas the highest yield per unit area was found in the cultivar ʻRed Chiefʼ. Regarding the years of study, by analyzing the results obtained, significantly higher average values of fruit weight and yield per unit area were recorded in the first year of study compared to the second experimental year, and as for the content of RSM, Identical trend was recorded. Application of ʻStopitʼ, which contains calcium in the form of calcium chloride (in its chemical composition), has shown a significant impact on the firmness of fruit in all investigated cultivars. The highest values of the fruit firmness were recorded in the cultivar ʻGranny Smithʼ in both years of study. Foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ can be recommended in apple orchards due to its stimulative impact on productive and pomological apple properties.

abstract = "This paper presents the two-year results of research into the foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ on productivity and pomological properties of five introduced apple cultivars (ʻGloster 69ʼ, ʻGolden Reindersʼ, ʻGranny Smithʼ, ʻMorrens Jonagoredʼ and ʻRed Chiefʼ). Foliar fertilizer ʻStopitʼ can be recommended in apple orchards due to its stimulative impact on productive and pomological apple properties., Настоящата статия представя двугодишни резултати (2018-2019) от влиянието на листен тор „Stopit“ върху продуктивността и овощните характерис- тики на пет интродуцирани сорта ябълки (ʻGloster 69ʼ, ʻGolden Reindersʼ, ʻGranny Smithʼ, ʻMorrens Jonagoredʼ, and ʻRed Chief’). Najbolji kumulativni prinos je utvrđen u sorti New Star i Sunburst, a najgori u sorte Stark Hardy Giant.
AB - The article presents the results related to the answer to the question of the possibility of commercial cultivation of sweet cherry in the so-called high dense planting system (> 1000 trees ha–1) on a vigour Mazzard (Prunus avium L.) rootstock. Responses were asked over the decade (2008-2018) to the monitoring of vegetative growth, productivity and main fruit physical characteristics. The results showed that New Star, Summit and Lapins had the most vigorous trees, while the weakest vegetative growth had Stark Hardy Giant and Sunburst. The highest yield per tree and per hectare in 2018 was in Summit, followed by Lapins and New Star, while the smallest was found in Stark Hardy Giant. The best cumulative yield was found in New Star and Sunburst, and the worst in the Stark Hardy Giant. The Sunburst had the best yield efficiency coefficient, and Summit and Germersdorfer were the worst. Sunburst and Hedelfinger are the cultivars with the smallest fruits, and Summit and New Star with the largest. A strong influence of the genotype on the fruit shape was established.
