AB - The main objective of the study was to examine the walnut population from the region of eastern Serbia for determining the relationship between the end of the vegetation period and fruit properties (fruit weight, kernel percentage, oil and crude protein contents). The walnut trees showed highly significant differences in the tested parameters. The walnut population was dominated by trees with a medium end of the vegetation period, moderate resistance to low temperatures (39.5%) and very small fruits (23.5%). The fruits of these trees had а high kernel percentage (15.8%) and moderate oil and crude protein contents (25.8% and 38.3%, respectively). Contrary, the walnut population comprised the fewest trees of late ending of the vegetation period, with extremely large fruits (0.1%), exceptional kernel percentage (0.2%) and pronouncedly high oil and crude protein contents (0.07% and 0.5%, respectively). The studied walnut trees show great variability in the date of the end of vegetation and fruit properties, which indicates a high potential of the population in the selection of new genotypes, and the necessity for their conservation for further breeding, propagation and commercial cultivation.

AB - This experiment evaluated the pomological properties (bush volume, berry weight, cluster weight, yield per bush and yield per unit area) and fruit quality (soluble solids content, total sugars, invert sugars, titratable acidity, total anthocyanins and ascorbic acid) of black currant cultivars as affected by soil management systems. The trial included the following cultivars: 'Ben Lomond', 'Ben Sarek', 'Titania', 'Cacanska Crna', 'Tisel' and ' Tiben'. Three soil management systems were evaluated: treatment 1 - bare fallow i.e., continuous tillage; treatment 2 - sawdust mulch; and treatment 3 black foil mulch. Differences in tested parameters were observed among cultivars and treatments. Bush volume was largest in 'Cacanska Crna' and 'Ben Lomond'. Berry weight and cluster weight were greatest in 'Ben Sarek', but cluster weight was also high in 'Cacanska Crna' and 'Titania'. Highest yields during the three-year experimental period were recorded in 'Tiben' and 'Titania'. Soluble solids content was high in 'Tiben' and 'Tisel', and high values for the other fruit quality parameters were recorded in 'Cacanska Crna'. Bare fallow and sawdust mulch treatments showed no differences in bush volume, berry weight, cluster weight and soluble solids content. Total sugars, invert sugars and total anthocyanins were highest in bare fallow treatment, whereas the highest yields and ascorbic acid content were recorded in sawdust mulch treatment.

AB - New systems for blackberry cultivation in enclosed and semi-enclosed areas have gained global popularity over the past several years. Primarily in terms of protection of fruits from adverse weather conditions, but also by indirectly reducing the threat of infection with economically significant pathogens, thus yielding an overall advantage over open-field production methods. The paper presents results of a three-year study (2011-2013) into the impact made by rain-shield cultivation system and chemical protection on incidence of gray mold and yield of usable fruits in 'Cacanska Bestrna' blackberry. It was observed that treatments induced in rain-shield cultivation system involving application of the fungicides, cyprodinil and fludioxonil (Switch) had a lower incidence of gray mold, i.e., a lower number of infected fruits (163.13 and 180.09) and a higher number of healthy fruits (2,129.96 and 2,226.00), together with a larger total number of fruits (2,291.00 and 2,387.87). In addition to this, a lower degree of infection (6.82 and 6.96%) and a higher yield of usable fruits (cane(-1), bush(-1) and ha(-1)) was observed in the blackberry cultivar under consideration (2,795.81 g, 8.38 kg, 18.63 t, respectively) grown under the rain-shield cultivation system and with applied chemical protection (2,675.54 g, 8.03 kg, 17.83 t, respectively), compared to the standard cultivation system.

AB - The objective of this study was to identify and quantify phenolic compounds, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity in extract of berries of seven black currant cultivars (Ben Lomond', Ben Sarek', Titania', aanska Crna', Tisel', Tiben' and Tsema'). High performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) technique was used to establish the profile of phenolic compounds. Antioxidant properties were evaluated using different methods, including total antioxidant capacity, DPPH and hydroxyl radicals scavenging activities, as well as inhibition of lipid peroxidation. The highest amounts of phenolics (15.0mg GAE/g), flavonoids (5.25mg RU/g) and antioxidant capacity (12.4mg AA/g) were found in the cultivar aanska Crna', whereas the other cultivars exhibited variability in the studied parameters. The fruits of black currant contained high concentrations of flavonols and phenolic acids. The main phenolic compounds were quercetin and caffeic acid. All explored extracts exhibited strong scavenging activity against DPPH radicals, which ranges from 56.19g/mL (Titania') to 61.17g/mL (Tisel'). The antimicrobial activity was tested using broth dilution procedure for determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The MICs were determined for 8selected strains. All extracts showed strong antimicrobial activity, in the range between 50.65g/mL and 166.38g/mL. Black currant fruit extract, rich in phenolic compounds and with strong antioxidant activity can be used as natural antioxidant in food and pharmaceutical industries.

abstract = "The objective of this study was to identify and quantify phenolic compounds, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity in extract of berries of seven black currant cultivars (Ben Lomond', Ben Sarek', Titania', aanska Crna', Tisel', Tiben' and Tsema'). AB - The experiment evaluated the effect of climatic factors (air temperature and rainfall) on the chemical properties (individual invert sugars, organic acids, total anthocyanins, total phenols and
antioxidant capacity) in the fruit of seven black currant cultivars (‘Ben Lomond’, ‘Ben Sarek’, ‘Tsema’, ‘Titania’, ‘Cacanska Crna’, ‘Tisel’ and ‘Tiben’). The cultivars showed highly significant differences. High levels of glucose (92.3 mg g-1), fructose (133.7 mg g-1) and sucrose (19.9 mg g-1) were found in ‘Ben Lomond’, and tested organic acids were recorded in ‘Tisel’ (citric acid - 1.62 mg g-1 and malic acid - 0.40 mg g-1). On the other hand, ‘Cacanska Crna’ and ‘Titania’ contained on average the highest contents of secondary metabolites. Climatic factors had a significant effect on fruit chemical properties of the fruit. High air temperatures and low rainfall amounts during berry formation and ripening promoted the accumulation of individual invert sugars, while low air temperatures and high rainfall amounts had a positive effect on the synthesis of organic acids and secondary metabolites of the fruit.

AB - The objective of this experiment was to identify and quantify individual invert sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose) organic acids (citric acid, malic acid), total anthocyanins, anthocyanin glycosides (delphinidin 3-glucoside, delphinidin 3-rutinoside, cyanidin 3-glucoside, cyanidin 3-rutinoside), vitamins (C, A, B3) and minerals (K, Ca; Mg, Na, P, Cu, Zn, Fe) in berry and leaf extracts of black currant. The extracts prepared from black currant leaves and berries exhibited different characteristics. Berries had higher contents of the tested parameters compared to leaves. Fructose was the dominant invert sugar in all extracts, followed by glucose, while the amount of sucrose was very low. Berry extracts contained 4.35 times more fructose than leaf extracts, and glucose was 3.92 times higher in berries than in leaves. The main organic acid was citric acid, whereas twice as low quantities of malic acid were observed in all tested berries and leaves. The content of total anthocyanins ranged from 289.2 to 12.3 mg C3G 100 g-1 in berry and leaf extracts, respectively. In the present research, cyanidin-3-rutinoside was the most abundant anthocyanin in both berries and leaves. The major vitamin in the tested black currant was vitamin C (213.5 and 38.7 mg 100 g-1, respectively), whereas the most abundant mineral was K (328.1 and 20.3 mg 100 g-1, respectively). The results suggested that black currant berries and leaves can be used as valuable ingredients for functional foods.

potencijala, fenoloških osobina i kvaliteta ploda perspektivne sorte jagode ‘Leatitia’ u
periodu 2016–2017. godine. U drugoj eksprimentalnoj godini, utvrđene su značajno više
vrednosti svih ispitivanih parametara vegetativnog, generativnog potencijala,
produktivnosti i mase ploda.
rodnosti i veoma kvalitetnog ploda.
AB - The paper presents results of the research of vegetative and generative potential, phenological properties and fruit quality of the promising strawberry cultivar ‘Leatitia’ in the 2016–2017 period. Significantly higher values of all tested parameters of vegetative, generative potential, productivity and fruit mass were determined in the second experimental year. High firmness values were determined in both years of the research, while significantly higher phenolics content and antioxidative capacity were registered in the fruits the second year after planting. Spread of the strawberry cultivar ‘Leatitia’ in production practices can be recommended primarily because of the late ripening, high productivity and very high quality of fruits.

AB - This experiment evaluated the effect of climatic factors (air temperature and precipitation) on the chemical properties (individual invert sugars, organic acids, total anthocyanins, total phenols, and antioxidant capacity) of the fruit of seven black currant cultivars (‘Ben Lomond’, ‘Ben Sarek’, ‘Tsema’, ‘Titania’, ‘Čačanska Crna’, ‘Tisel’ and ‘Tiben’). The cultivars showed highly significant differences. High levels of glucose (92.3 mg g-1), fructose (133.7 mg g-1) and sucrose (19.9 mg g-1) were found in ‘Ben Lomond’, and tested organic acids were recorded in ‘Tisel’ (citric acid - 1.62 mg g-1 and malic acid 0.40 mg g-1). On the other hand, ‘Čačanska Crna’ and ‘Titania’ contained on average the highest contents of secondary metabolites. Climatic factors had a significant effect on the chemical properties of the fruit. High air temperatures and low precipitation amounts during berry formation and ripening promoted the accumulation of individual invert sugars, while low air temperatures and high precipitation amounts had a positive effect on the synthesis of organic acids and secondary metabolites in the fruit.

The content of total anthocyanins ranged from 289.2 to 12.3 mg C3G100 g-1 in berry and leaf extracts, respectively.

AB - Intensive development of agriculture and increasing utilization of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers significantly contributes to a series of undesirable effects and results in excessive environmental pollution. Approximately half of all nitrogen applied to boost agricultural production escapes its intended use and is lost to the environment. Over the past years, fruit growing practice has been focused on a new concept, which relies primarily on the application of microbial inoculants i. e. biofertilizers. In line with the concept, we conducted comparative study of the effect of bio-and chemical fertilizer applications on yield-related characteristics of, Granny Smith. and, Cadel. apple cultivars and microbiological properties of the soil. The yield-related characteristics of the tested plants were evaluated for generative potential parameters i. e flowering intensity, fruit set intensity, final fruit set intensity and yield (kg tree(-1); t ha(-1)). The microbiological properties of soil were monitored by determining the total microbial count, numbers of soil fungi, actinomycetes, oligonitrophilic bacteria and Azotobacter. The analysis of the results points to the fact that the efficient apple nutrition management should ensure both enhanced and sustainable production. This approach seems to contain a certain potential as an appropriate technique in commercial apple production, which may improve yield-attributing characteristics and soil fertility.

AB - Background of the study - The high proportion of the blackberry (Rubus subg. Rubus Watson) cultivar Cacanska Bestrna in commercial orchards (about 60%) in the Republic of Serbia is one of the reasons for the standstill in blackberry marketing as the market value of blackberries is often lowered due to the poor stability of their black colour during frozen storage. With this in mind, the aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the rate of pigment degradation and soluble solids content in the blackberry fruit during frozen storage. Materials and methods - Blackberry fruits of three cultivars were collected at different ripeness stages and frozen at -20 degrees C for 7 and 30 days. Pigment degradation was determined by counting fruits showing pigment degradation after two freezing periods. Soluble solids content (SSC) was measured by a digital refractometer, and total anthocyanins content (TAC) was assessed by the pH-differential method. Results and discussion - The highest rate of pigment degradation (PD) during freezing was found in Cacanska Bestrna', as induced by the lowest SSC and TAC. A lower rate of PD was recorded in berries sampled at the over-ripe stage, whereas an increase in the rate of PD and a decrease in SSC and TA contents were determined during frozen storage. Conclusion - To prolong the shelf life of blackberries whilst maintaining the health benefits and stable colour of fruits, freezing is the best method, but the rate of PD, SSC and TAC during freezing varies with cultivar and ripeness stage.

AB - Polyphenols compounds have been found in berries and leaves of black currant (Ribes nigrum L.) are known as agents acting preventively and therapeutically on the human organism. The effect of three soil management system (bare fallow, sawdust mulch and black plastic mulch) on the content of total anthocyanins, anthocyanin glycoside (delphinidin 3-glucoside, delphinidin 3-rutinoside, cyanidin 3-glucoside and cyanidin 3-rutinoside), flavonols (quercetin, myricetin and kaempferol), flavan-3-ols (catechin and epicatechin) and antimicrobial activity of seven black currant cultivars ('Ben Lomond', 'Ben Sarek', 'Titania', Cacanska Crna', 'Tiber' and 'Tsema') was investigated. Total anthocyanins content was determined using the single pH and pH differential method. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was employed for the identification of the most abundant metabolites presented in berries and leaves extracts. Microbial properties of extracts were examined using eight selected indicator strains. Soil management systems and cultivars showed highly significant differences in the tested parameters. Berries showed a higher content in anthocyanins, flavonols and flavan-3-ols than leaves. Quercetin was the most abundant flavonol in berries and leaves, and epicatechin the most abundant flavan-3-ol. Comparative research on black currant cultivars and soil management systems suggests an important relationship between cultivars and soil management systems. Soil management systems had an effect on the contents anthocyanins and anthocyanin glycoside in extract leaves, but not in extract berries of black currant cultivars. On the other hand, soil management systems have a significant positive effect on the synthesis and accumulation of flavonols and flavan-3-ols in both berries and leaves. Furthermore, all extracts showed strong antimicrobial activity. These results suggest that berries and leaves of black currant cultivars which growing on different soil management systems may be used as a source of beneficial compounds in food and pharmaceutical industries.

AB - Black currant contain significant amounts of minerals and vitamins that are associated with an improved health status. The effect of three soil management system (bare fallow, sawdust mulch and black foil mulch) on the content of vitamins and minerals in the fruits of seven black currant cultivars ('Ben Lomond', 'Ben Sarek', 'Titania', 'Cacanska Crna', 'Tisel', 'Tiben' and 'Tsema') was analyzed. HPLC-DAD (high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector) technique was used to define the vitamins A, B1, B2 and B3. Vitamin C were evaluated using a spectrometer, whereas the mineral content of the fruit was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Significant differences in the minerals and vitamins content were detected among the cultivars. The berries of black currants are rich in mineral composition, especially potassium, phosphours, sodium, calcium and magnesium as well as iron. Also, black currant is an important source of vitamin C and, to a lesser amount vitamins A and B3. Soil management systems showed highly significant differences in some the tested parameters. Black currants grown on black foil mulch gave the highest levels of K, P and Na, and those on sawdust mulch had a high content of vitamins C, A and B3. On the other hand, soil management system had no pronounced effect on the other vitamins and minerals analyzed. This study demonstrates degree of differences in the amount vitamins and mineral elements depending on the different soil management systems and climatic factors.

AB - The paper presents the results of the impact made by genotype ('Clery', 'Joly' and 'Dely'), fertiliser and harvests on the content of anthocyanins (ACY) and total phenols (TPC) in the fruit of strawberry in 2014. Two types of fertiliser were applied - mineral NPK fertiliser and microbiological fertiliser. Fruit samples for analysis were collected in five harvests, in the full maturity phase. The obtained results have shown that the content of ACY and TPC was under a significant impact of the genotype, fertiliser, harvests and the interaction of these factors as well. Fruit of cultivar 'Joly' had the highest ACY and TPC. In addition to this, significantly higher values of ACY and TPC were recorded with the use of the microbiological fertiliser, compared to the mineral fertiliser. Strawberry fruits harvested in the second half of the harvesting season had a significantly higher total phenols content compared to the fruits harvested at the earlier stages of the season. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that the biggest advantages related to both tested parameters (ACY and TPC) were recorded in the interaction between the 'Joly' cultivar, microbiological fertiliser and fourth harvest. In addition to this, certain amounts of mineral fertiliser can be replaced with microbiological fertiliser in order to obtain healthy and environmentally-safe products.

AB - This experiment was set up to evaluate the effect of soil maintenance systems on phenological traits (beginning of leaf unfolding, full leaf unfolding, inflorescence emergence, beginning of flowering, full flowering, beginning of berry set and berry ripening) in black currant (Ribes nigrum L.) cultivars. The research was conducted in the experimental orchard of the Fruit Research Institute, Cacak, West Serbia, during 2012-2014. Three soil maintenance systems were used: I - bare fallow i.e., continuous tillage; II - sawdust mulch, and III - black polyethylene foil mulch. Six black currant cultivars were involved, including 'Ben Lomond', 'Ben Sarek', 'Titania', 'Cacanska Crna', 'Tisel' and 'Tiben'. The earliest beginning of the phenological stages was observed in cultivars under foil mulch treatment, and the latest in cultivars under bare fallow treatment. Under all treatments and in all years, the phenological stages were the earliest in 'Cacanska Crna' and 'Tisel'. Leaf unfolding was the latest in 'Titania'. The other growth stages were the latest in 'Ben Lomond'.

AB - The paper presents an investigation into the influence of fertigation on generative potential parameters and pomological properties of apple fruits. The study was done in apple orchard of Fruit Research Institute Čačak (Serbia) over two-year period (2009- 2011) on three cultivars ('Morens Jonagored', 'Gloster' and 'Granny Smith'). Fertigation included fertilizers NPK 16:8:32, NPK 12:0:43 and PGPR - inoculum of diazotrophic bacterium Klebsiella. Results of the study suggest that fertigation with 12:0:43 NPK fertilizer had the most pronounced effect on all generative potential parameters, except abundance of flowering (initial fruit set - 3.71; final fruit set - 3.31). Similarly, this fertilizer had the same effect on all yield parameters in the apple cultivars studied, i.e. yield per tree - 9.60 kg/tree, yield per unit land area - 24.40 t/ha, cumulative yield - 19.20 kg/tree, cumulative yield 48.00 t/ha and yield efficiency - 0.77 kg/cm2. Mineral fertilizer NPK 16:8:32 gave the highest abundance of flowering (4.51). In terms of pomological properties the applied fertilizers had a significant effect on fruit weight (239.05 g), soluble solids content (14.78%) and ripeness degree (4.75).

AB - The effect of paraffin on the onset of bud break, onset of callus formation and graft-take percentage in walnut under bench grafting using the whip-and-tongue method was evaluated in this study. The experiment involved the following cultivars: Šeinovo, Ovčar, G-286, G-139 and Elit. Two treatments were employed: Treatment 1 - grafting involving immersion of the rootstock-scion union into paraffin, and Treatment 2 - grafting without immersion of the rootstock-scion union into paraffin. Sawdust temperature in the treatment with paraffin was 0.5-1°C higher than that in the treatment without paraffin. This induced earlier bud break, earlier callus formation and higher graft-take percentage in walnut.

AB - The effect of different stratification treatments on the degree of callus formation in one cultivar (control 'Seinovo') and four selections of walnut ('Ovcar', 'G-286', 'Elit' and 'G-139') were evaluated in this study. Three stratification treatments were employed, including: Treatment I - stratification of walnut grafts without the use of paraffin by completely covering with conifer sawdust, Treatment II - dipping of scions and graft unions into paraffin (paraffin temperature being 60-70 degrees C) and their stratification in sawdust up to the top of the scion, and Treatment III - dipping of scions and graft unions into paraffin, their stratification in sawdust up to the graft union and covering with polyethylene foil. Degree of callus formation was highest in treatment III (excellent callus formation in 53.4% of grafted plants, very good in 24.8%, good in 12.9%, and no callus formation in 8.9%), and lowest in treatment I (excellent, very good, good and no callusing in 36.3%, 22.0%, 19.4%, and 22.3% of grafted plants, respectively). As for cultivars, callus formation was highest in 'Seinovo' (excellent in 54.5%, very good in 23.6%, good in 14.9%, and no callusing in 7.0%), and lowest in 'G-139' (32.8% excellent, 27.5% very good, 18.2% good, and 21.5% no callus formation).

abstract = "The effect of different stratification treatments on the degree of callus formation in one cultivar (control 'Seinovo') and four selections of walnut ('Ovcar', 'G-286', 'Elit' and 'G-139') were evaluated in this study. As for cultivars, callus formation was highest in 'Seinovo' (excellent in 54.5%, very good in 23.6%, good in 14.9%, and no callusing in 7.0%), and lowest in 'G-139' (32.8% excellent, 27.5% very good, 18.2% good, and 21.5% no callus formation).",

AB - The effect of Humisol organic fertiliser (150 g humic acid/l + 20 g/l mineral nutrients) on plant survival and growth of five walnut cultivars grown over a period of two years in the nursery were evaluated. Walnut plants treated with Humisol at the total annual rate of 0.75 ml/plant had a significantly higher survival rate in the first year, greater height and diameter in both years, and a higher percentage of first-class plants at the end of the second year, as compared to untreated control plants. Soil application of Humisol led to better performance of nursery grafted plants, compared to foliar application. Nursery plants receiving 1.5 ml Humisol per year through both soil and foliar application exhibited the best performance in the parameters analysed. In the first year, a decrease in plant growth rate in all treatments was observed in August and September; in the second year, growth rate started to significantly decline in the second half of August.

AB - The paper presents the results of chemical thinning of flowers of plum cultivars suitable for drying - 'Čačanska Rodna', 'Stanley', 'Valjevka' and 'Bluefree'. The treatments were performed during the phase of full bloom, using the LG-GER-ATS (ammonium thiosulphate) in a 0.0025% concentration. The trial comprised three treatments: treatment I - treating the entire crown; treatment II - treating one half of the crown height-wise, in the direction of the rows and treatment III - control treatment (trees receiving no treatment). The application of the ammonium thiosulphate treatment on the trees resulted in the increased size and yield of the fruits subjected to treatments I and II, in comparison to the control treatment. The application of the ammonium thiosulphate made an impact on the size of fruits in all the cultivars in the trial. The largest fruit dimension and mass was recorded in treatment I, while the smallest was detected in treatment III. The fruit mass of the 'Čačanska Rodna' cultivar was higher by 8.7 g (22.8%) in treatment I, i.e. by 5.1 g (14.7%) higher in treatment II; the fruit mass of the 'Stanley' cultivar was higher by 7.0 g (17.3%) in treatment I, i.e. 3.7 g (9.9%) higher in treatment II; the fruit mass of the 'Bluefree' cultivar was higher by 5.7 g (10.9%) in treatment I, i.e. by 2.4 g (4.9%) higher in treatment II - all in comparison with the non-treated trees. The highest yield per tree was recorded in treatment I, while the lowest was detected in treatment III. In the 'Čačanska Rodna' cultivar, the yield was higher by 6.3 kg (14.8%) in treatment I, i.e. by 3.3 kg (8.4%) higher in treatment II; the yield of the 'Stanley' cultivar was higher by 3.7 kg (9.2%) in treatment I, i.e. it was by 2.1 kg (5.4%) higher in treatment II; the yield of the 'Bluefree' cultivar was higher by 1.9 kg (7.5%) in treatment I and by 0.8 kg (3.5%) in treatment II; the yield in the 'Valjevka' cultivar was higher by 4.0 kg (10.9%) in treatment I, .e. it was by 1.0 kg (3.0%) higher in treatment II - all in comparison with the control group. The yield per unit of area in the 'Čačanska Rodna', 'Stanley' and 'Bluefree' cultivars did not show significant differences between the treatments, while the highest ant the lowest yield in the 'Valjevka' cultivar were recorded in treatment I and treatment III, respectively.

AB - Aiming at the development of the technology of growing plum cvs 'Boranka' and 'Timocanka', newly bred at Fruit Research Institute-Cacak, we studied major pomo-technological properties of fruits as influenced by planting density. Plants with well-developed sylleptic shoots, grafted on 'Myrobalan' rootstock (Prunus cerasifera Ehrh.) were planted in spring 2007. Spacing varied among variants, viz. 4.0 x 1.0 m (variant I 2,500 tree ha(-1)), 4.0 x 1.5 m (variant II 1,666.6 tree ha(-1)), 4.0 x 2.0 m (variant III 1,250 tree ha(-1)) and 5.0 x 4.0 m (variant IV as control, 500 tree ha(-1)). In high density planting variants, modified spindle-bush trained trees were formed by applying specific pomo-technical practices, whereas the improved conventional pyramidal crown was formed in control trees. The paper presents the average results over the period of initial cropping from 2008 to 2010. Fruit size and weight in 'Boranka' depended on planting density however the identified statistical differences were not significant. In contrast, the differences were significant in 'Timocanka' where fruits were larger and had higher fruit weight. The highest yield per tree and unit land area as well as cumulative yield over the period of study was observed in the variant involving greater number of trees, whereas it was lowest in control. As for 'Boranka', the average yield per tree in all the variants was as follows: 2,292 kg (5.73 t ha(-1), var. I), 1,639 kg (2.73 t ha(-1), var. II), 0.996 kg (1.24 t ha(-1), var. III), and 0.503 kg (0.25 t ha(-1), var. IV). In 'Timocanka', the obtained yield was as follows: 4,675 kg (11.687 t ha(-1)), 5,352 kg (8.97 t ha(-1)), 2,867 kg (3.584 t ha(-1)) and 2,557 kg (1.288 t ha(-1)). Cumulative yield per tree and unit land area over the period of study was as follows: 'Boranka' - 6,877 kg (11.7 t, var. I), 4,917 kg (8.19 t, var. I), 1,992 kg (2.49 t, var. III) and 1,006 kg (0.50 t, var. IV); 'Timocanka' - 16,056 kg (35.06 t, var. I), 14,025 kg (26.759 t, var. II), 8,603 kg (10.755 t, var. III) and 7,732 kg (3.866 t, var. IV). Total soluble solids content varied among the variants, ranging from 11.8% to 14.6% and 11.2 to 15.5% in 'Boranka' and 'Timocanka' respectively.
